The Bazus occupies the oldest commercial structure in New Iberia’s historic district — a building that has stood at the heart of downtown since the 1860s. Once home to the Bazus Hotel and Restaurant, this space has welcomed travelers, locals, and celebrations for over a century.

Renovated between 2018 and 2022 with care for its original character, The Bazus now offers an intimate setting for your most meaningful occasions. Cypress ceilings, exposed brick, antique furnishings, and modern amenities come together in a space that feels both timeless and alive.

Showers, rehearsal dinners, milestone birthdays, anniversary parties, holiday gatherings, celebrations of life — The Bazus transforms with minimal effort into whatever your occasion needs. At 1,500 square feet, we’re sized for intimacy: seated dinners up to 70, cocktail parties up to 100.

140 Years of Downtown History

Laurent Bazus opened the Bazus Hotel and Restaurant here in 1885. Beginning in 1915 was a century of reinvention — photographer’s studio, hotel, restaurant, photographer’s studio, tailor shop, café, cocktail lounge, officebuilding. In 2017, the family began a careful renovation to honor that legacy while creating something new.
